Garfield High’s varsity girls soccer team lost to Issaquah High, 4-1, on Thursday on the plateau.
Issaquah forward Audrey Thomas kicked off the scoring with a goal unassisted at 11:00. Fourteen minutes later, Thomas tapped the ball to Deanna Dakar, who slammed in the second goal for the Eagles, making the score 2-0. And then Thomas knocked in another goal off an assist by Delany Foreman at 33:00.
In the second half, Dakar scored another goal at 68:00 of an assist by Sarah Leland.
And finally, at 87:00, Maria Carlson got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard with a brilliant, slashing run down the right sideline and shot with her right foot off a deft assist by Ava Lewis.
The game took Garfield’s record down to 2-3-4 (5-5-5) and lifted Issaquah’s record up to 7-1-2 (9-4-2).
The Bulldogs play next against Newport High with the last berth in the conference playoffs up for grabs. Newport is 3-5-1 (5-8-2) .
