The Garfield High varsity girls soccer team blanked Redmond High, 2-0, on Tuesday night at Memorial Stadium to move into fourth place in the KingCo 4A standings.
Heather Kovar got the scoring off on the right foot for the Bulldogs at the 20:00 mark off an assist from Ana Rae Miller.
Anna Duncan then completed the scoring for the night with a hard-hit shot 14 minutes later, unassisted.
Garfield’s smothering defense went on to shut down the Mustangs in the second half to seal the team’s second league victory.
Goal keeper Sarah Whitney earned the shutout.
The win boosted Garfield’s record to 2-0-2 (5-1-3) and dropped Remond to 2-2-1 (3-4-3).
The Bulldogs next play Eastlake at home in Memorial Stadium on Thursday night at 7:30 pm. Eastlake is 1-0-3 (3-1-6) and is most recently coming off a 0-0 tie with Inglemoor.
